17th March 2006For your reading pleasure... 8th March 2006Ok so I don't update enough. It's weird but I always seem to be drained for quite awhile after each gig and it takes a bit of time for me to get going again. But here I am. As anticipated the last gig was a great success and all the bands did a fantastic job. Narcissism and EXP did Banbury proud and showed us what a great emerging music scene this town has. Junkie Brush did stunningly well considering they were only playing as a 3 piece (guitar and drums). All in all the night passed without a hitch and so we move on to bigger and better things! A far as press goes, well things are looking up. This week, tomorrow in fact, should see the publication of my interview with the Banbury Guardian. Yeah I know its not the biggest paper in the world but it is local covergae. It has taken a while to get it but its done now. Hopefully they'll review all the gigs, you would think they'd be interested. I have something else in the pipeline too, something quite cool but until its confirmed I'm reluctant to say too much. But its good, trust me on this one. I'm also trying to line up a permanent photographer to take that pressure from me and free me up to do other things on the night, like drink and enjoy myself. Anyway hopefully I'll see you on the 18th. 15th February 2006So the next chapter in this saga is drawing near and I have a feeling this is going to be an amazing night. I'm expecting a good crowd and I'm hoping everyone is going to have a blinding time. At the January gig I did an impromtu interview with BBC Oxford, I was never really sure it would get broadcast but much to my surprise it did - and you can find it here. I do a surprisingly good impersonation of someone who knows what they're talking about but I do think I come off quite well and put across what I'm trying to do with this. The March lineup is now confirmed as The Sirens Call, This Town Needs Guns and Orko. And so far for April I've confirmed The Half Rabbits and King Furnace with another band in the pipeline. Oh yes and you can see my first ever effort at video on the images page where you'll find footage of All You Miss from december. And there sgould be someone filming saturday's gig too. |
22nd January 2006Damn its been a while since I updated this section of the site. In fact it was over two gigs ago. The December and January gigs went very well with a small amount of money being made on the nights. More important however is the fact that we seem to gaining momentum now. The crowd levels have been consistent for the gigs and its given me renewed hope and desire to carry on. So I am. The February line up has been confirmed with Oxford's Junkie Brush taking the headline spot but they are going to be more than ably supported by Banbury favourites EXP and Narcissism. Its going to be a bit of a punk tinged night but I'm expecting good things and I'm really looking forward to it. BTW there will 2 (count 'em) new badge designs available but I'm not sure whether to do a limited run of 50 or 100 each. Confirmed for the March 18th gig are This Town Needs Guns with support probably coming from Orko and another band yet to sorted. And I ve booked nights right through until July. |

6th November - A big congratulations to Harry Angel (my opening act at the last gig) who made it through the public vote to be the 3rd band to represent Oxford at the big Children In Need concert at Brize Norton on the 18th. If nothing else they can say they supported Girls Aloud. Fell City Girl, who headlined my last gig, were already on the bill as automatic qualifiers (for want of a better word). And bad luck to Big Speakers, my next headliners, who were also in the running. Hopefully I'll be announcing the January 14th lineup in the next couple of days. |
1st November - Bit of a lineup reorder. The Mascarpone Sidewinders will now open this night with Nervous Testpilot as the main support.
31st October - I've managed to get a night next month, November 19th to be precise. The line up is already confirmed and it'll be Nervous Testpilot opening, followed by Banbury's own Mascarpone Sidewinders and Big Speakers to headline. Big Speakers are one the most exciting acts playing in Oxford right now and the night promises to be a top one.
Tickets are £5 from the usual outlets and on the door, it'll be open at 8pm and NTP will be on at around 8:30pm. See you there. |
24th October - So the following nights are booked: 17/12, 14/01, 18/02 and 18/03. The line up for the 17th has been confirmed as All You Miss, Phyal and Harlette. This promises to be a really good night and if AYM deliver as they have at previous gigs it should be storming. |
13th September - So, how did it go? Actually everything went really well, except the audience turn out. Only 39 paying punters out of a possible 100. Bit of a downer. Still onwards and upwards. I think everyone was there found something to enjoy and I got the impression that most people will come back again (fingers x'd). And that's part of the aim, something for everyone to enjoy and hopefully they'll enjoy it all. Although we were late getting in there all the soundchecks were done before the doors opened and all the changovers were slicker than a slick thing sitting in a pool of oil. The PA was superb and I have to say a big thanks to Chris, Jimmy and Amy for the help on that one. And personally speaking I thought all the bands were excellent. The Walk Off are getting better and better, Sexy Breakfast put on a superb show even though they were a member down, and Suitable Case For Treatment were just superb. I've never seen them before but I know I'll be seeing them again. Lessons learned: do more promoting. I got that badly wrong. But thanks to Marc, Jake and Ant for stepping up and offering their services and for Dave mantle for doing the same. Hopefully they'll be more bodies in there on the 15th. And I'll put up some sort of gellery when I feel less unwell. |
12th August - Ok advance ticket are now on sale at The Mill and at We Got Tickets (see below). There are also a few posters and flyers out and about. |
10th August - The PA has finally been sorted out and we've got a lighting rig included in the deal as well. Many thanks to Dan and Chris from Harry Angel for that. The running order for October 15th has been altered somewhat due to the fact that Fell City Girl are playing Leeds and Reading this year and so they'll be headlining this one. Tickets will be on sale from The Mill's box office and online at We Got Tickets from tomorrow. I hope. |
Sunday 7th August - The website goes live and the posters and flyers are nearly ready. I'll be in Leamington Spa on friday trying to
get the word around, putting up posters and handing out flyers. The last piece of the puzzle is the PA but we're working on it. |
